The New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute (NYPSI) is celebrating the centenary of its Society with a series of special programs and events commemorating our organization's distinguished history and addressing the challenges of the twenty-first century, in keeping with its mission to promote excellence in the teaching, research, and provision of psychoanalytic treatment and the application of psychoanalytic principles in advisory, consultative, educational, and therapeutic services to the New York metropolitan community.

NYPSI endeavors to provide leadership and service to the community through:

  • The Treatment Center, established in 1948 and one of the oldest psychoanalytic treatment and referral services in the United States, providing low-cost or free psychotherapy and psychoanalytic treatment.
  • Our commitment to excellence in education embodied in our prestigious training programs in Adult Psychoanalysis, Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis, and the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program.
  • Our leadership in the advancement of psychoanalytic science, through the cutting-edge investigation of the interface between psychoanalysis and neuroscience of the Neuro-Psychoanalysis Program (the first of its kind in the world).
  • The Parent Child Center, delivering guidance and education by child development experts to parents and their young children.
  • The Extension Division, presenting exciting educational curricula to both the wider professional and lay communities.
